- UAT testers are in need of access to some applications, so they may
reach out to the goals set within UAT. This document discusses briefly
what those tools are, and their basic function within the UAT
environment.
- Links to access most of applications within UAT environment are located

- There is a group of tools (software; programs and some other
applications) of common use while testing for UAT. Besides having access
to these applications, testers most get familiar with these applications
in order to develop an acceptable level of performance. This document
attempts to facilitate an effective participation as UAT testers.

- Be sure your word processor is functional; word processing is an
important part of your daily tasks list. In our network by default Microsoft
Word is the selected/preferred word processing program.

- In Product Studio you may find all information related to test cases.
You will need to have access to Product Studio so you may locate
information about cases; results from tests; also you may save the
results from your work here. Product Studio provides you with access to
the various locations where the information is found.
- This application has to be installed individually in each workstation;
if you don’t see the application included in the Windows Start Menu or a
shortcut at your desktop, please contact your supervisor in order to
have the program installed under you alias at your workstation.

- Explore.ms is a very useful tool to those looking for information
online. This web based application includes a wide range of information
related to agreements; programs; documentation; customers; operations;
policies; forms; status of a given transaction; looking for product
information and many more. In Explore.ms you may also run reports.
- You will need to register in Explore.ms; there are two different levels
of registration; use the ‘Internal Registration’ method in order to get
access to the tool. There are –also- two levels of access to this tool
1) Administrative accounts and 2) Regular User accounts. Discuss with
your supervisor on what is the appropriate level of access to your needs
and roles within UAT.

- MVLS (Microsoft Volume Licensing Services) is a web based application
where customers and MS staff are able to manage Volume Licensing
benefits, Software benefits (SAB) and some other data. MVLS offers
different levels of access and account types. There are accounts for regular
users and those accounts with administrative rights. Please discuss with
your supervisor on what would be the most appropriate type of account
that you shall hold. Usually, credentials are provided within every test
case’s script where you will find specific instructions in regards to
what type of account to be used for each specific test case. This is
very important in order to obtain the desired results in a given test.
- You may access MVLS at any of the locations (URL) provided by your UAT
Regional Coordinator (URC) or at http://support . Be sure that you use
the appropriate location accordingly with the phase or stage within your
UAT project. For more information on this matter, please consult with
your supervisor.

- Microsoft License MSL is a program that
- allows management and creation of data directly
- related to MS transactions; i.e. agreements;
- purchase orders; invoices; adjustments; amendments;
- customers’ information etc.
- MSL operates under different environments accordingly with the specifics
within a given test case or UAT phase. Be sure that you clearly
understand this component; failure to do so will not allow logon into
the application. Please refer to the lines below as a reference and
example to this rule. This may not reflect the actual situation in your
particular case:
- UAT 1 = MSLUATCORE01
- UAT 2 = KSMSLCORE51
- In order to obtain information regarding the environment under which MSL
is operating do the following: Double click on the MSL icon while
holding the ‘Shift’ key. It should display the information as shown in
the graphic above. You will have here the choice of selecting the
appropriate server for your MSL session.

- In e-MSL (Microsoft License) you may perform a variety of inquiries; the
application offers access to information and the management of data.
- In e-MSL you may manage organizations; subscriptions; shipments;
contacts; agreements and purchase orders
- e-MSL provides you with the appropriate environment so you may search;
edit and/or create over a variety of transactions and operations.
- You don’t need to register or to have credentials in order to use this
tool. Just login to the following URL:

- Note:
- e-MSL is also known in production environments as OMC.

- In addition to the applications discussed in this document, the tester
needs to subscribe to auto-groups in order to have good communication
with other individuals and groups involved with UAT sessions.
- Usually, your URC will provide you with instructions in how to register
and which auto-groups you may need to subscribe to.

- Is useful (not indispensable) the
- access to a ‘messenger service’ to
- facilitate the communication with
- other members in the UAT group.
- The preferred service within MS is
- Microsoft Office Communicator;
- you may install this application in
- your workstation then add the contacts
- of your interest.

- The usage of this application is based upon the user’s own discretion.
However, is preferred that its usage is limited to job related matters.

- As you operate and experience within the UAT environment and group, you
may face needs not covered within this document; therefore additional
programs and applications may be required.
- Before installing new software; programs or applications in your
workstation, please be sure to have authorization from your leader,
supervisor or manager. Remember you are working with Microsoft owned
equipment and software; acknowledge that fact and create a safer working
environment for yourself and the entire UAT team.
